Golf's best here for U.S. Women's Open, Heroes for Kids Pro-Am SOUTHEASTERN WISCONSIN'S growing reputa- tion in golfing circles will get a boost this month as the stars of the men's and women's professional circuits compete here. The 67th U.S. Women's Open returns to Blackwolf Run in Kohler July 2-8, bringing all of the stars of the international circuit. The tournament will be played on the club's original course designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1988. The course hosted the 1998 U.S. Women's Open won by Se Ri Pak. Scheduled to play are Wisconsin PGA pros includ- ing Steve Stricker, Mark Wilson, Jerry Kelly, Skip Kendall, and J.P. Hayes Celebrities attending will include Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne, former Milwaukee Bucks star Junior Bridgeman, former Milwaukee Brewers Robin Yount, Bill Schroeder and Craig Counsel and Brewers Manager Ron Roenicke. Also attending will be CBS/Golf Channel announcer David Feherty, who will roam the course kibitzing with the crowd and offering his unique and witty com- mentary.
