This means no multiple passes and no extra time spent tying to the stake — thus reducing labor cost. Because they're more mature, they have a hardier root system and reduce the time to fruit production. They're produced by using a rootstock cutting that is 24 to 36 inches long and is then field grown for one full season on a custom trellis. www.vintagenurseries.com Almatec Launches High-Pressure Pump Series AHD/AHS Almatec, part of PSG, a Dover c o m p a n y a n d p r e m i e r m a n u - facturer of sanitary air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps, is pleased to announce the launch of its new high-pressure pump series AHD/AHS. Enartis Ferm D20 is the result of more than four years of collaboration with DAOU Vineyards and Winery. The product is a yeast isolate from the top Cab- ernet Sauvignon block on DAOU Mountain in Paso Robles, Calif., in the Adelaida Appellation. It's recommended for the production of high-end red wines intended to be aged. It tolerates high fermentation temperatures, promotes extraction of phenolic compounds and reduces the perception of green notes while enhancing aromatic intensity and complexity. It's par- ticularly suited for Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varietals.
