Even though they were outside, the fi nal number just about brought the house down as the guitarists smoked the place. By the time the awards cer- emony got underway the crowd had been worked up into quite a frenzy. It was a tender moment when Huggy came to the stage to make the presentations, but fi rst took the time to thank attendees for coming out to make the 2016 the best one yet, Jennifer for her hostess skills, and his son Tory for being "the best son a dad could ever ask for." There was a moment to honor Huggy's friend David Mann before he launched into awarding trophies and it was a colorful array of machinery that took to the winner's deck. From Andrew Ulrich's "Pink Panther," Brett Hatt's red, white and blue Knuckle, Kirk Taylor's graphic-schemed FXRs right on up to Dalton Walker's very orange Triumph, builders used creativity in their bold paint choices and each one seemed to accent the particular build to a T. Huggy mentioned that Paul Wheeler, who won fi rst place for his 1946 Knucklehead, has taken home a tro- phy every since year the Chopperfest began, which is pretty incredible. We can't wait to see what he brings out next year. The 2017 date is December 10. (www.chopperfestival.com) 4 It's a laid back day during the Chopperfest.
