Custom Rigs ReadeR Rigs 40 | Overdrive | April 2017 Far-out paint job Heidi Bowlby of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, owns this 2005 Volvo VNL 780 and 2008 Vanguard trailer to haul gen- eral freight. The truck is powered by a 450-hp Cummins ISX and a 10-speed Eaton Fuller Ultrashift. The spray-paint job features designs of space, pyramids, mountains and more. It was done by hand and clear-coated by Trent Curnow of Butte, Montana. Bowlby hasn't made any other upgrades to the truck yet but has plans for some. Custom heavy hauler Von Harris uses this 1990 Peterbilt 379 for heavy hauls, including military, oilfield and construction equipment. The truck is powered by a 1,000-hp Cat C15 with a 13-speed main transmission, a 4-speed auxiliary and 4:63 rears. Harris did most of the custom work himself, including welding the chain-link shifters and stainless-steel boxes and cab floor, and hand-carving some cherry wood pieces in the cab. Great American Chrome_OVD1114_PG.indd 1 10/13/14 2:12 PM Forklift hauler David Fulks, who's leased to Celadon's flatbed division, uses his 2016 International Lonestar to haul Toyota forklifts out of Columbus, Indiana. The truck is powered by a Cummins ISX15 with an Eaton-Fuller 13-speed and 3.55 rears and has an electric APU with auto-start. The trailer is a 53-foot 2015 Fontaine Conestoga with rear sliding tandems and a rolling tarp system.
