Somewhere in there's a metaphor for the joy I feel in presenting George & Wendy Show blogger Wendy Park- er's 100,000 Miles of Crazy: Adventures from the Road with George and Wendy, available now via Amazon.com. The book's a compendium of some of the fi rst installments of Wendy's blog, which I've been editing since we fi rst brought it onto OverdriveOnline.com in 2012. The book's a great chance to revisit in a single package how it all started. Wendy ventured onto the road with her owner-operator husband, George, to reconnect at a rocky time and with nothing better to do after hand surgery left her unable to continue her long-term-care nursing work. With her mother horri- fi ed at the "thought of her nurse-daughter hanging out in (gasp) truck stops," Parker notes, she started "a little scrapbook/diary of our trav- els, to show her we were safe and things were going well. Little did I know the diary would become a weekly fea- ture in Overdrive and I would change careers from being a nurse to being a writer Wendy Parker's book compiles many of her early columns from OverdriveOnline.com's George and Wendy Show blog. Blending the humor and weirdness of the road for an industry I knew next to nothing about." That last part didn't last long: Wendy's seen the good, bad and ugly of trucking in the fi ve years since. As Wendy writes in the intro, "Laughter is the best medicine to cure what ails you." I know no one in trucking with a more gut-bustingly awesome sense of humor.
