As November blows through Milwaukee County, we appreci- ate the last vestiges of fall and prepare for the coming of winter. But while the weather cools down, the County ibooms with activity. Marquette's Golden Eagles, UWM's Panthers and the Milwaukee Bucks return to the courts. If that cheering doesn't exhaust you, the month also brings concerts from Bob Dylan and Journey to Trampled by Turtles and Alabama Shakes. The Milwaukee Art Museum continues to excell with Rembrandt, Van Dyck, and Gainsborough: Treasures of Kenwood House, London. Milwaukee is one of only four U.S. stops for the exhibit filled with masterpieces. The county always embraces the holiday season. The Holiday Lights Festival embraces the city in lights and brings a stream of activities. Milwaukee also acts with charity, pairing the 86th Annual Holiday Parade with a food collection. No matter what you choose to do in Milwaukee County, I hope you enjoy your time with us. Sincerely, Chris Abele Milwaukee's change of seasons can be dramatic. From our hot summer, through temperate fall and brisk winter, the most reli- able forecast is that our weather will change. In Milwaukee, we embrace change – and not just in the weather. Our skyline has grown in recent years as new residen- tial buildings have been constructed. That is part of a change in housing patterns that has brought more and more people to downtown Milwaukee. Visitors to Milwaukee are finding a wider variety of options as new restaurants, new hotels, and new attractions are added. Our industries have evolved over the years. While we still brew beer in Milwaukee, we are now home to high- ly advanced manufacturing, businesses producing green energy components and a burgeoning water technology sector. The demographic makeup of Milwaukee has changed as members of different immigrant groups have chosen to make this city their home. One thing I'm confident will never change is the hardworking and friendly char- acter of our residents. Sincerely, Milwaukee County Executive Tom Barrett, Mayor
