Custom Rigs ReadeR Rigs 54 | Overdrive | July 2014 By Tara Bullock Vitamin C Owner-operator Shawn Winders of Leesburg, Pa., hauls "pretty much anything," but primarily flatbed materials. His 2004 Peterbilt is equipped with an extended hood, a 320-inch wheelbase, a Caterpillar motor and a 13-speed transmission. Winders, leased to K Line Trucking, says he "did a complete makeover" on the Pete, replacing the motor, clutch, fenders and bumper. He says everyone refers to the rig as "the orange truck." Family affair Nick Zwald owns and drives this 1990 Freightliner Condor for Zwald Transport, operating under his father's authority. Zwald, of Tillamook, Ore., says he has "pretty much rebuilt the whole truck from top to bottom," including a new paint scheme, a new Detroit 500-horsepower motor and an interior he refur- bished to add more leg room. Zwald says his father was featured in Overdrive in 1992, and he says "it's pretty cool" for both to appear in the magazine. Fund raising and hauling Barry Ayers of Rivesville, W.Va., drives this 2015 Kenworth T660 equipped with a Paccar 500-horse- power engine. In this photo, the owner-operator was delivering Vidalia onions for the Osiris Shrine Temple in Wheeling, W.Va., for its annual fund-raiser. This was his 15th year performing this run for the temple.
