"Other details that were resolved on-site were the posi- tioning of the gate posts, inspection of the string line for the Aegis II fence, and instructions as to the proper lay- out of the anti-ram components along the fence line and into/through the bol- lard posts. Final inspection was done after the installation was completed, and a commissioning letter was issued stating that the Stalwart II system was installed per specifications." Nick Framel and Phil Barrett, project managers in Ameristar's Tulsa, Oklahoma headquarters, worked with the architect and engi- neer on the specifi- cation of the fence barrier. Barrett assisted the Port Au- thority with budget numbers and Goodman and he worked with the gen- eral contractor to provide preferred contractor referrals, product details and delivery timeframes. Once Security Fence Systems was awarded the fencing contract, Barrett and Goodman worked closely with them to provide materials quotes, sup- port and logistics. White and Goodman met with Se- curity Fence Systems on-site to pro- vide layout assistance and training and Goodman worked with the installation company on multiple follow-up site visits to help ensure the product was installed properly and ultimately com- missioned the install. They also inter- faced on-site with the Port Authority and general contractor throughout the project duration. Goodman added: "I was honored to play a role in the installation of our Stalwart II anti-ram barrier at the 9/11 Memorial, as the Memorial serves as an enduring reminder of the loss our country sustained on that fateful day. To play a small part in protecting those who come to pay respect to the indi- viduals whose lives were taken is a privilege and brings a reverence for those who've sacrificed everything for our country." "The one thing that stood out to me was the tight time line," Barrett added. "We all have deadlines that we deal with everyday, but when your deadline is September 11 for the Sep- tember 11 Memorial, it takes on a whole new meaning! There was no way any of the parties involved was going to miss this deadline and risk disappointing the family members of the individuals who lost their lives on 9/11." "Everyone at Ameristar did every- thing they could, from expediting CAD drawings to expediting produc- tion to meet the deadline. And Secu- rity Fence Systems went as far as ordering extra material to ensure com- pletion of this project. I think everyone involved had a sense of pride being a part of a project of this magnitude," Barrett commented. Ameristar, based in Tulsa, Okla- homa, is the largest ornamental fence manufac- turer in the world. From its begin- nings over a quar- ter-century ago, Ameristar concen- trated on enhanc- ing the aesthetic appearance of modern fence products, promot- ing ease of instal- lation, while increasing strength and durability. After the tragic events of 9/11, Ameristar paused to reflect on how it could better protect the United States. Since then, Ameristar has developed multiple high security fence products that help secure and protect at risk fa- cilities. Ameristar's anti-ram barriers, high security fences and anti-scale fence systems have been installed on thousands of perimeters across the na- tion. Ameristar fence products are man- ufactured in the U.S. and meet all re- quirements of the Buy American Act (BAA) and the American Reinvest- ment and Recovery Act (AARA).
