National Catholic Forester 10 committee presented their June report to the controller, updated from the Thursday meeting, and met with the controller and national treasurer to deliver the report. Motion by Maria Tupaz, second by Jeanne Filipp moved that the Board accept the NCSF Investment Guideline Verification and State of Illinois Investment Limitations Verification as presented. Motion adopted 10-0. FRATERNAL REPORT: Fraternal report was handed out. Meeting was recessed at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 The June quarterly meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Catholic Society of Foresters was called to order by National President Margaret Schmitt on Saturday, June 6 at 8:15 a.m. in the home office board room. Opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance were said. Roll call was taken and present were National President Margaret "Peggy" Schmitt, National Vice President Sally Egan, National Secretary Catherine "Cathy" Hensel, National Treasurer Lisa Bickus and National Directors David Bonacker, Terence "Patrick" Coleman, Jeanne Filipp, Rosalie Pyle, Sandra Troyanoski, Maria Tupaz. National Director Jane Uselman joined by skype. Motion by Jeanne Filipp from the finance committee, that the Board approve the updated NCSF investment policy dated June 6, 2015. Motion adopted. 10-0. Discussions of the EVP/COO position and the fraternal director positions and job descriptions were held. Personnel committee gave their report. September board dates were discussed and will be starting at 8: 30 a.m. Wednesday, through Friday afternoon, Sept. 16-18. St. Catherine is believed to have been born in Alexandria of a noble family. Converted to Christianity through a vision, she denounced Maxentius for persecuting Christians. Fifty of her converts were then burned to death by Maxentius. Maxentius offered Catherine a royal marriage if she would deny the Faith. Her refusal landed her in prison. While in prison, and while Maxentius was away, Catherine converted Maxentius' wife and two hundred of his soldiers. He had them all put to death. Catherine was likewise condemned to death. She was put on a spiked wheel, and when the wheel broke, she was beheaded. Maxentius' blind fury against St. Catherine is symbolic of the anger of the world in the face of truth and justice. When we live a life of truth and justice, we can expect the forces of evil to oppose us. Our perseverance in good, however, will be everlasting.
