Consumers shopping for a new mower this year will find a new engine packed with "easy" features mounted to the decks of several mower brands. The new E-Series push mower engine will join Briggs & Stratton Corporation's product lineup this spring. The E-Series engine will be available on mowers sold at New E-Series push mower engines from Briggs & Stratton are all about easy Lowe's, Sears, The Home Depot, Walmart and other outdoor power equipment retailers. Seven in 10 consumers who bought a mower in 2010 felt that it is "extremely important" to have a mower that's easy to start, according to PowerPulse, an annual consumer survey on outdoor power equipment. More than half of consumers surveyed also wanted a mower that is easy to maintain and maneuver. Briggs & Stratton E-Series engines deliver on all the "easy" features consumers want, making it easier than ever for homeowners to have a great- looking lawn. From easy 1-step starting to improved performance and reduced emissions, the E-Series engines deliver a distinctly enhanced lawn mowing experience. "The E-Series represents an evolution in push mower engines, offering homeowners distinct quality and features even on the most basic engine in the series," said J.P. Benjamins, product marketing manager for Briggs & Stratton. "Everything about these engines is aimed at making the mowing experience easier and better for consumers." The new 550e and 550ex Series engines offer the following "easy" features: easy starting with an easier-to-pull rope helping users start the engine on the first or second pull; easy to maneuver with a best-in-class torque-to-weight ratio; easy to maintain with less than 30 minutes of easy-to-do maintenance per year using a Briggs & Stratton tune-up kit; and easy on user's hands and ears with reduced vibration levels and an improved sound level delivered by the Super Lo-Tone muffler. These engines come equipped with the ReadyStart starting system, eliminating the need to choke or prime the engines before pulling the rope to start them. The 550ex Series is also covered by the Briggs & Stratton Starting Promise. In addition, all 550e and 550ex Series engines meet U.S. EPA Phase 3 emissions standards. Briggs & Stratton Corp. DR Power Equipment introduces Versa-Trailer Designed as an accessory for ATVs, UTVs and compact tractors, DR Power Equipment's new DR Versa-Trailer utility trailer can haul loads up to 2,000 pounds and is the first of its kind to offer a pivoting boom-lift, which makes loading and unloading heavy loads almost effortless. On top of its all-steel construction, this utility trailer features the world's first boom-lift that pivots to lift up to 440 pounds on either side of the trailer. The boom-lift can also be used to raise and lower the galvanized steel bed, which resists dents and rust. The bed itself can be removed (no tools required), quickly converting the trailer to a stake bed for harvesting trees or hauling long loads. The trailer's tandem wheels, which pivot on a single axle, allow it to "walk" over uneven ground, so owners can take it anywhere their ATV, UTV or compact tractor will go. And unlike most poly or wooden ATV trailers and dump carts, the Versa- Trailer was designed with a rearward pivot point, which achieves a 35-degree dump angle for clean unloading every time.
