POWER 50 New addition at Brewer Cycles leads to more sales BY DAVE McMAHON EDITOR IN CHIEF For those who venture off about one mile east of Interstate 85 in Henderson, North Carolina, a gem of a powersports dealership awaits, smack dab across the street from Northern Vance High School and just a stone's throw from Skipper's Forsyth's Bar-B-Q. Brewer Cycles, a Power 50 dealership in each of the three years since the program's inception, is a retail giant in its small-town set- ting 11 miles from the Virginia state line. The building's 29,000 square feet of inviting space includes a lineup that features Can-Am, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, KYMCO, Polaris, Sea- Doo and Yamaha. A 12,500-square-foot addi- tion that opened in 2014 brought increased sales across all departments in 2015, according to owner Chris Brewer. Chris got his start in the business across the street in 1981, in a building that has since been razed. An impressive customer lounge greets visi- tors to the new addition, which also houses side-by-sides, ATVs and personal watercraft below an extraordinarily high ceiling with LED lighting that enhances the retail experience. The original showroom now is home to a vast selection of dirt bikes and a growing expanse of new and pre-owned bikes. Parts and apparel, along with service, stayed in the original home. An 80-foot rig leaves no mistake that Brewer Cycles is all business when it comes to ama- teur race support. Two mechanics bring the rig to a variety of events throughout the year. For 2016, Brewer Cycles is the premier title sponsor for AMA District 29. Add it all up and equals the largest amateur race support pro- gram on the East Coast. "We'll bring about $40,000 in parts out to the track," Brewer said. "It's not a mon- eymaker on race day, but people appreciate the fact that you have a clutch cable for a KX. And they dang sure bring it up when they come in to buy something from you a few weeks after the race." Be on the lookout for a Brewer Cycles-built bike that will be getting full photo coverage in an upcoming edition of Motocross Action magazine. The dealership's slogan — "We're Worth the Drive!" — is more apparent now than ever. More showroom space means more space for cool displays like this for the Kawasaki Ninja 300. Expect to see some sort of Brewer Cycles support at races throughout the AMA's District 29 in the Carolinas. A reception desk near the entrance displays the vast awards won by Brewer Cycles, including Powersports Business Power 50 in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
