6 Reasons Why Life Insurance for Our Children Makes Sense It is every parent's worst nightmare – the thought of something happening to a beloved son or daughter. That is undoubtedly why even thinking of life insurance for a child is a diffi cult proposition and the facts prove this to be true. According to the American Council of Life Insurance about 15% of people under the age of 18 have life insurance, a fi gure that has changed little over the last 10 years. Even insurance professionals and the companies they represent are divided on this sensitive issue. However the weight of sound reasoning stands on the side of protecting a child and starting them on the road to acquiring knowledge of fi nancial products and fi nancial planning skills, the benefi ts of which are vitally important in adulthood.
