Almost 70 years later, designer Bill Newis oversaw an expansion to eighteen holes. And the result was worth the wait. Tree- lined fairways, strategically placed water hazards and silica sand traps put the premium on accuracy. This 18-hole facility has water in play on all but three holes and the greens are guaranteed to test your putting skills the course has 12 different stay 'n play options among them (Best Western, Lizard Creek Lodge, Rocky Mountain Vacations, Snow Valley Condominiums, Black Bear Lodge). "I hope everyone has a chance to come visit us this summer and join me in experiencing some of the best scenery anywhere in the world," says Fernie G&CC General Manager / CPGA Head Professional Mel Dies. New at Fernie are a number of on-course improvements. "Most of the new stuff for the Fernie Golf & CC would be related to on-course improvements planned for 2012: three new tee boxes in play, a new washroom facility for convenience to patrons, a new driving range, tee deck and access, and finally a new larger cleaner pond in play on #13. In all we will be spending over 100K this season on on-course improvements to help make the experience that much greater for the public. Hope everyone has a chance to come visit us this summer and join me in experiencing some of the best scenery anywhere in the world." Golf packages are offered with The Best Western Fernie Mountain Lodge, located right next door. The course made the transition from nine to eighteen a few years ago and the results are spectacular. The newer nine is a Les Furber design and the 11th hole that plays along Holt Creek is not to be missed. New for 2012, the Golden Golf Club has the "All You Can Play - Every Day" special. GM Patrick Chury is very excited about the opportunity that this gives golfers, "Why pay to just play 18 holes as you do at most other courses, when you can play 27, 36 or as much as you like everyday at the Golden Golf Club. We have always been known for exceptional value and once again we lead the way." Chury is also very proud of one of Golden's attributes that makes it almost unique in the province, "Our club takes great pride in the fact that there are no residences on or around the golf course. Each hole is almost entirely lined by natural forest." Golden GC also has a RV Park where for every 2 rounds of golf played, you receive one night complimentary stay. The Golden Golf Club is pleased to announce their "All You Can Play - Everyday" Special. You Continued on next page
