As the ski resort grew and it did not take long for the idea of adding golf to take root. Since then getting name designers to build golf courses with Whistler Mountain as a backdrop has become a habit that seems hard to break. Just 25 minutes north of Whistler at the base of magnificent 8,000 foot Mount Currie in Pemberton BC, lies Big Sky Golf and Country Club. Rated 4 stars by Golf Digest and rated the Best Public / Resort Course in BC, Big Sky is truly a cant miss in the Sea to Sky corridor for golfers of any ability. Featured are two lakes, a double green, one of the province's more memorable short par 4s, along with a full-sized practice facility. In keeping with the heritage of the region, massive stumps from the first growth timber have been incorporated into the design. Golf Digest has rated Squamish as "The Best Value in The Whistler Corridor" and "Top Public Courses in BC" in 2012 by the Vancouver Sun. Cut from mature trees with its panoramic snow capped mountain backdrop, it's easy to see why. Squamish Valley was proud host to the BCGA Senior Men's 2011 and CN Women's Tour 2011. In 2014, they will be the host of the BC High School "AAA." New for the 2012 season is an upgraded irrigation system and the pond on #13 reshaped offering a new tee box look. On Tuesday's is the 'Locals Special.' The Club offers Squamish Residents the opportunity to play 18 holes of golf after 12:00 noon at an unbeatable price.
