thing from sauvignon blanc to Wrangler Red, with all grapes estate-grown at
high elevation. But the game changer for him and for Lake County was when 300 acres in the nearby Red Hills Lake County AVA became available in 2008. The owners wanted out and, after a heart to heart discussion, Shan- non and his wife, Margarita, decided they
wanted in. They bought the property and named it Vig- ilance Winery & Vineyards, 236 acres of it vine- yard, after observing the vigilance of their guard dogs in charge of overseeing the family's 1,000
