reporter | by Equipment World staff Bauma ready to roll I n January, more than 200 exhibitors previewed the products they���ll be showcasing during bauma, the immense Munich, Germany trade show slated for April 15-21. The show will feature more than 3,300 exhibitors sharing more than 6,000,000 square feet of space. Products slated for introduction on this worldwide stage include: Caterpillar: A new 988K large wheel loader, a complete upgrade of the H series with a Tier 4 Final engine, upgraded mini-excavators and the huge 6020B hydraulic mining shovel. Cat will also give visitors access to its new hybrid excavator 336EH for the ���rst time. Liebherr: The modular design 150 EC-B ���at-top crane and the 357HC-L luf���ng jib crane, the successor to the 355 HC-L. Chicago Pneumatic: Three types of concrete poker vibrators (pneumatically, mechanically or electrically powered), two concrete saws and RX38 hydraulic breakers. Vogele: AB500 and AB600 extended screeds. Stihl: The GS461 concrete cutter, a cut-off saw with electronicfuel injection and a new high-performance cordless chain saw, the MSA 200 C-BQ. New Holland: Three short radius excavator models (the E230C SR, E260 SR and E160C Blade Runner) with Tier 4 Interim technology. The company will also exhibit new skid steers, compact track loaders and an upgraded motor grader. Snorkel: A compact rough terrain scissor lift, a self-propelled (battery) low-level, lightweight access platform with 10-foot maximum platform height, and an enhanced M1230E self-propelled mast with a deck extension. LiuGong: Three new excavators including the 45-metric-ton 945 E. Hinowa: The Minitransporter (with a watercooled Kubota engine) comes in three models: a basic one you load yourself, a self-loader (using a front blade/scoop) and a self-loader with an extra lift capacity. Manitou: Upgrades to the three-in-one Rotative Telescopic Handler and a rough terrain forklift. ��� John Latta | JohnLatta@randallreilly.com Bauma Innovation Awards Some exceptional products will win the event���s prestigious Innovation Awards. Standout contenders include Kaiser���s Walking Mobile Excavator, which could be a relative of the Mars Curiosity rover, a Liebherr compact loader and Wacker Neuson���s 100 demolition breaker. In other categories, eye catchers include Volvo Construction Equipment���s fume extraction system for asphalt pavers; Wirtgen���s 3D system for controlling offset slipform pavers; Aker Wirth���s Mobile Tunnel Miner; and Herrenknecht���s Pipe Express Tunneling System.
