special hauls Engelmann Spruces, including last year's tree from the White River National Forest in Colorado. Once cut, the People's Tree gets wrapped up on a flatbed trailer CHANGING LANES and will travel in Washington State with stops in several cities before beginning its nation-wide tour that includes approximately 14 stops across the U.S. before arriving in Washington, D.C. on November 25th. These stops allow citizens from all across the U.S. to enjoy the tree, even if they cannot make it to the Capitol Building. This year's tree will be chaperoned throughout the year by U.S. Forest Service representatives from the Colville National Forest, and outdoor recreation, tourism and conservation organization Choose Outdoors. After being unloaded at the Capitol building, the 88-foot tree will be lowered into a five-foot deep hole and decorated with lights 12 special hauls 1013 cl.indd 3 and thousands of handcrafted ornaments made by Washingtonians from across the State. In December, the Speaker of the House and one Washington State student will light the tree and showcase Washington State's historical, cultural and natural beauty. Throughout the holiday season, the tree will be lit at dusk and enjoyed by people from around world. The theme of Washington State's Capitol Christmas Tree is "Sharing Washington's Good Nature."
