Product News Cub Cadet RZT S ZERO receives coveted award Cub Cadet's RZT S ZERO, the world's first and only fully electric-powered zero-turn riding mower with steering wheel control and 4-wheel steering, recently received the coveted Breakthrough Award from Popular Mechanics (PM), a Hearst publication devoted to science and technology. The award is given annually to the top-10 people and products that "represent the highest standard in innovation and execution." Previous winners of this award include Apple's iPhone, GM's Crash Avoidance System, Microsoft's Surface + Windows 8 tablet and the Nintendo Wii. The RZT S ZERO is an extension of the proven, awardwinning Cub Cadet RZT S line of zero-turn riding mowers. It is the first zero-turn riding mower to offer 4-wheel steering controlled by an operator-friendly steering wheel.  But it's also what you don't get that's breakthrough: zero engine noise, zero emissions, zero gasoline and oil, zero belts and filters, and zero cumbersome lap bars. "Winning the Popular Mechanics Breakthrough Award validates our passion for forward-thinking innovation," said Jeff Salamon, Cub Cadet's director of marketing. "The spirit of American Ingenuity, that's so central to who we are, is showcased in the ZERO's power, flexibility, efficiency, and user-friendly features. We're jazzed by the consumer feedback and honored by the prestigious recognition from a publication of this caliber." In selecting the candidates and winners of the 2013 Breakthrough Awards, PM editors canvassed a wide range of experts, including dozens of past Breakthrough Award winners, in fields ranging from aerospace and robotics to medicine and energy. PM editors tested hundreds of products in a wide range of categories throughout the year to arrive at the true game changers for the Breakthrough product awards. Cub Cadet received the award at an invitation-only conference and gala ceremony at Hearst Tower in New York City on Oct. 22. It was also recognized in the November issue of PM. "Each year's recipients are awe-inspiring as they shape our future through life-changing ideas and innovative products," said James B. Meigs, editor-in-chief of PM. "We are excited to recognize this year's incredible list of visionaries and share their breakthroughs that not only capture the imagination, but improve and save lives as well." The RZT S ZERO is currently available in select markets and will be expanded into new markets for spring 2014. Cub Cadet 2014 Altoz XC line of precision zero-turn mowers Designed by a team of experienced engineers and lawn care professionals, the 2014 Altoz XC Series of zero-turn mowers consists of high-performance commercial machines, each built with a dedication to excellence and the promise of a precision cut. The Altoz XC Series delivers on 4 key features: 1. Precision cut: The redefined, deep-deck shape of the Aero Deck system facilitates the highest-quality precision cut. 2. Productivity: With an industry-leading maximum speed of 19 miles per hour, consumers will see productivity skyrocket. 3. Toughness: The highest levels of research, materials and engineering went into developing the XC Series. 4. Operator comfort: Arguably the most important point, consumers who take advantage of this line of products will soon learn the XC Series delivers premier operator comfort. "We built the Altoz XC line for professionals and discerning homeowners who demand the finest-quality cut and appreciate the most rewarding mowing experience," said Altoz CEO Dennis Brazier. "That commitment is evident in the race car-inspired design," Brazier continued. "It's reflected in our attention to detail, such as hiding control linkages inside the frame where they're out of sight and shielded from debris, fingers and feet. And it's highlighted by the superior handling and operator comfort that produces a professional-grade cut while cruising at our industry-leading 19-mile-per-hour top speed." With an awe-inspiring performance that turns heads and a finished cut that commands admiration, the XC 720 Z, XC 610 Z and XC 540 Z are the premium models in the Altoz lineup. Delivering on the 4 core principles in the development process, Altoz has crafted an advanced zero-turn mower designed to captivate both commercial and residential consumers the moment they make their first cut. The 2014 Altoz XC commercial line of zero-turn mowers is joined by the XP professional and residential lines. Manufactured in Greenbush, Minn., they will be available in select U.S. markets beginning in fall 2013. Altoz, Inc.
