DELAND MOTORSPORTS INCREASES PARTS SALES WITH PARTSOUTLAW.COM An idea hit DeLand Motorsports general manager Nate Stickney that could change the home mechanic's way of ordering parts forever. As GM of the highest volume Suzuki dealership in the Southeastern U.S., he knew not everyone could afford retail pricing for OEM parts and that not everyone wants to use a service department for their repairs. There had to be a better way. He brought in one of the top e-commerce gurus in Chad Gibbs to help try to tackle this problem, and thus PartsOutlaw.com was born. They created a site that breaks down each powersports vehicle using an advanced microfiche system that will tell the home mechanic exactly the part number and amount of parts needed to do a particular job simply by referencing the parts fiche. For instance, if a 1999 OEM XYZ 500 needs a clutch kit, from the home page click OEM XYZ/ATV/1999/500/clutch assembly, and off you go. However it was realized that this would not be enough. Due to the current economic environment, PartsOutlaw.com adjusted its pricing to match. The pricing was set to offer the same parts pricing that most repair shops pay for their parts. The savings now are going directly to the end consumer. In the first two months of implementa- tion of the new website and pricing formula, Deland, the No. 4 dealership on the 2013 Powersports Business Power 50, has seen a 1,200-percent increase in OEM parts sales for its Suzuki, Arctic Cat and Yamaha product lines. International business has increased more than 283 percent from the previous two months. This also gives smaller repairs shops a chance to compete with larger franchise dealerships with almost equal footing. It also allows people in more rural areas access to OEM parts that once were not available and the technical information to make advanced repairs possible. SURDYKE'S ADDS ARCTIC CAT Tim Surdyke's Street, Track and Trail, a sister store to 2013 Power 50 dealership Sur- dyke's Harley-Davidson, is now carrying Arctic Cat. Tim Surdyke's will carry Arctic Cat's ATVs and side-by-sides. The dealership is located next to Surdyke Harley in Festus, Mo. COLEMAN POWERSPORTS HOSTS 3-WHEEL SEMINAR Coleman PowerSports in Falls Church, Va., hosted a free 3-Wheel Seminar in May, teaching customers about three-wheel motorcycling. The dealership's staff offered presenta- tions specific to three-wheel motorcycles, including information about the bikes' major components, minor service requirements, safety equipment and more. A representative from Apex Cycle Education also talked about three-wheel motorcycle classes and licensing. Attendees received a new rider coupon book, a $500 value, and refreshments were served at Coleman, the No. 2 dealership among the 2013 Power 50 dealers. ALIEN ABDUCTION TOUR STARTS AT GO AZ MOTORCYCLES The Arizona Riders Association of Triumph is hosting a three-day ride from Go AZ Motor- cycles to Utah, Area 51 and Las Vegas. The June 27-29 ride promises to be a mod- erately paced trip for all levels of rider. On Sunday, riders will meet at 8 a.m. for breakfast at the Luxor. Stands go up for a ride back to Phoenix at 9:30 a.m. An optional lunch stop will take place in Wikiup, Ariz. MAX MATERNE RACES IN THRUXTON CUP AT WILLOW SPRINGS Historic Willow Springs International Race- way hosted round three of the Thruxton Cup series April 26-27, pitting entrants against one another, the track and Mother Nature. Strong winds and cool temperatures gave riders tough racing conditions on their race- prepared Triumph Thruxtons. On Day 1, winds were so strong that the riders were being pushed out while trying to hold their lines through turn eight only to be faced with 30 mph headwinds down the front straight. Through it all, Zack Courts was able to post the fastest lap time en route to victory on his No. 65 British Customs-equipped Thruxton. Jack Pfeifer finished a strong second. Other notable British Customs riders Heath "the Chief" Cofran finished eighth and "Playboy" Max Materne, general manager of aftersales and certified master tech at The Transportation Revolution in New Orleans, finished 13th after an off-track excursion. Day 2's race faced the same extreme weather conditions, but once again, Courts and Pfeifer seemed immune to it. This time around, it was Pfeifer who took the win on his No. 44 Thruxton, followed by Courts. Mike Blankenship claimed the third spot on the podium. Materne had a DNF, and Cofran was blown off the track, ending his day in the dirt. As the official performance part supplier of the Thruxton Cup, British Customs has drawn on its years of experience designing and testing high performance components for Triumph motorcycles to create bolt-on parts and pack- ages that are easy to install, and provide the raw power and sharp handling to give riders a competitive edge on the track. Future Thruxton Cup races are set for June 7-8 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis.; June 14-15 at Grattan Park Race- way in Grattan, Mich.; July 11-13 at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, N.J.; Aug. 29-31 at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah; Oct. 9-12 at Barber Motors- ports Park in Birmingham, Ala.; and Oct. 17-20 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla.
