Jim Haertel of Brew City Redevelopment Group LLC, which operates the gift shop, tav- ern and tours on the site of Pabst’s former cor- porate headquarters, successfully negotiated with current Pabst management to bring the colorful aluminum sculpture back to the courtyard where it stood from 1966 to 1996. Renamed Best Place in recognition of Jacob Best Sr., the founder of the brewery, the struc- ture at 901 W. Juneau Ave. once was head- quarters of Pabst, where leaders of the indus- try gathered in Blue Ribbon Hall and raised toasts with King Gambrinus. The 45-year-old statue replaced a carved wooden statue of the King, which stood in the same courtyard from 1857 to 1966, years in which Pabst was the world’s largest brewer. During its long tenure in Milwaukee, Pabst was an industry leader, especially under the Jim Haertel, operator of Best Place, toasts the return of King Gambrinus to the historic headquarters of Pabst Brewing Co. leadership of Capt.
