NEW PRODUCTS Blount introduces Oregon lithium-ion battery-powered chain saw Blount, Inc., the world's largest manufacturer of saw chain, announced on August 1 the launch of the new Oregon PowerNow 40V MAX lithium-ion bat- tery-powered chain saw. This battery-powered chain saw de- livers a combination of performance and features that makes it a true alter- native to many gas-powered chain saws. Landscapers can depend on this chain saw for removing trees, pruning large branches, or clearing debris from properties. When not in use, the Power- Now chain saw lithium-ion battery pack holds a charge for months. The PowerNow chain saw offers instant starting without a pull cord, pow- erful cutting with no-fade power, and long run time — all free from the hassles of gasoline or cords. At slightly less than 11 pounds, the PowerNow chain saw is lightweight and easily portable, as well as offers ergonomic comfort. The PowerNow chain saw is much quieter than gas-powered chain saws in use and is silent between cuts. This is ideal for early-morning landscaping around homes or apartment buildings. With no fumes or emissions, it is also appealing to homeowners and municipalities that are interested in greener landscape maintenance. The PowerNow chain saw features Oregon's PowerSharp built-in chain sharpening system. When the chain dulls, simply pull the PowerSharp lever for 3 to 5 seconds with the saw running, and the chain will work like new. Oregon PowerNow|Blount, Inc. Classen adds 2 spring-tine turf rakes Classen announced August 8 that it has expanded its turf rake line by adding 2 new spring-tine models, the TR-20RH (with Honda GX160 engine) and the TR-20RB (with Briggs & Stratton Intek 850 engine). With all of the same per- formance and user-friendly features and benefits as Classen's current turf rake line, the new spring-tine reel models are more forgiving on lawns that have in- ground sprinkler systems or other permanently installed objects in the turf. The new Classen TR-20R is the ideal solution for those areas where flail reel or slicer blade reels are too aggressive. The new reel features 104 individ- ual spring tines that are surface-treated to provide more than 50-percent added strength and tine life. Like the rest of the Classen Turf Rake line, the TR-20R is a versatile and portable lawn dethatcher: • Easily converts to a vertical slicer or seeder in minutes • Convenient folding handles for easy storage and transport • 5-position blade height adjustment • Heavy-duty grease bearings with cast-iron housings hold up to the rigors of commercial and rental applications. Partial spring-tine or complete spring-tine reel assemblies are also available. Both assemblies will fit any Classen brand turf rake or seeder model and make an ideal retrofit for adding dethatcher functionality to exist- ing Classen machines. Classen/Schiller Grounds Care, Inc. Rotary heavy-duty electric starters • Variety of new electric starters for 2011 • Fit most single- and twin-cylinder engines with electric start • Starter kits including starters, buttons, hardware and extension cord • Tested for quality and durability • Backed by exclusive warranty • More than 30 different models with multiple applications • Guaranteed quality that meets or exceeds all OEM standard for operation Rotary Corp. Stihl's BR 350 and BR 430 backpack blowers Stihl recently introduced 2 powerful, fuel-efficient, comfortable and easy-to-use backpack blowers for tackling tough cleanup tasks. The BR 350 is a mid-range blower for landowners seeking professional results, while the BR 430 is designed for landowners and landscapers. Both blowers boast advanced engine technology that provides plenty of power and improved fuel economy, as well as less exhaust emissions than standard 2-stroke engines. They also have a larger fuel tank that allows for longer run times than pre- vious models. In addition, these blowers are equipped with several user-friendly features, including an anti-vibration system to reduce operator fatigue, as well as a simplified starting procedure for easy use and a tube-mounted throttle for sin- gle-handed operation. They are also built to last with a 2-ringed piston for extended life and a 4-inch wear area on the tube nozzle for greater durability. The BR 350 uses the same tube as the BR 380 with a new control handle. The BR 430 has a full back pad, larger shoulder straps, ElastoStart starter handle and the same tube and control han- dle as the BR 550. The BR 350 produces 441-cfm air volume with the tube, 677-cfm air volume without the tube, and 168-mph air velocity, while the BR 430 generates 500-cfm air volume with the tube, 765-cfm air volume without the tube and 183-mph air velocity.
