HOT News 44 March 2015 Landscape and Irrigation www.landscapeirrigation.com Product round-uP Pest and disease ManageMent Bayer CropSCienCe SpeCtiCle total To help landscape managers more effec- tively manage areas of unwanted weeds and grasses, Environmental Science, a division of Bayer CropScience LP, announced Spec- ticle Total — a non-selective herbicide with unparalleled residual control. Specticle Total not only kills existing weeds, it prevents new ones for up to six months. It is easily mixed in a backpack sprayer and can be used in both landscapes and hardscapes. Specticle Total provides lawn care professionals and golf course superintendents fast, effective control with visible results in hours. It is rainproof in 30 minutes and uses less active ingredient, which results in less herbicide in the environ- ment. Specticle Total can be used in a variety of landscape and hardscape areas, including mulched areas and around ornamental plants and grasses. It can be used around buildings, fence rows, decorative gravel and lava rock areas, as well as in parking lots, paths and walkways, driveways and sidewalks, patios, rocky or sandy areas in desert climates and bare-ground, non-crop areas. CoMpanion FungiCide haS eaSier paCkaging Growth Products' Companion is formulated to fight a broad range of soil and leaf fungal disease. It has been called by leading research- ers the most consistent and reliable biological on the market. Protecting the contents; packaging has always been an important part of Growth Products' quality control, making sure that Companion gets to customers in good condition, and remains so. New packing does just that and more. A new royal blue bottle protects the product from UV light, and the design, an F-style handle, is easy to use and pour. The heavy HDPE material will survive the toughest handling and worst storage conditions. It's available in four different package sizes, so that it meets the needs of both smaller and larger users. And don't forget the 30-gallon drum quantities for larger end users BugBarrier tree Band It won't be long before caterpillars hatch and begin feasting on trees. Applying an adhesive band to the tree trunk to trap them is the most environmentally sound method for controlling these pests, and the BugBarrier Tree Band is the preferred banding system. The BugBarrier Tree Band is a pesticide-free, pheromone-free adhesive banding system that does double duty. Most tree-dwelling caterpillars pupate at the base of the tree and the adult female moths climb up the tree to lay their eggs. So the band traps the adult female moths as they attempt to climb. During their feeding stage, many caterpillars climb down the tree to avoid predators and the heat of the day. The BugBarrier Tree Band traps the caterpillars at the end of the day as they attempt to climb back up the tree to continue eating leaves. The BugBarrier Tree Band can be installed in five minutes or less. Its dense, flexible fiber barrier is wrapped around the tree to fill bark crevices. The adhesive film barrier is then installed over the fiber, with the adhesive side facing the tree. This unique design eliminates unsightly debris that insects turn into bridges, and keeps insect carcasses out of sight.
