Mower Focus | Eco-friendly Mowers BOB-CAT Predator-Pro LP-61 The BOB-CAT Predator-Pro LP-61 has all of the power and performance features that are the signature of the commercial Predator-Pro line. The only difference — these new units are powered by a 30-hp. Generac 990 en- gine that affords the new units all of the power associated with a Predator-Pro commercial mower with the added ability to cut Ozone-forming emissions by greater than 50 percent over gasoline-burning engines, ensur- ing cutting that is green and clean. The Predator-Pro LP-61 is a no-hassle propane-powered commercial zero- turn rider that utilizes liquid withdrawal — no conversion system needed, and no costly specialty tanks required. The Generac 990 engine is fueled by the same common liquid withdrawal propane tanks and technology that forklift trucks utilize — giving users easy access to a readily available fuel source and replen- ishment system. Cub Cadet next generation of advanced commercial zero-turn riders During a four week road tour, Cub Cadet unveiled to its 1,500 dealers its new, next generation of advanced commercial zero-turn riders. Dealers had a chance to see and test drive the new TANK SZ Commercial and TANK LZ Commercial zero-turn riders. The TANK SZ (which denotes Steering wheel Zero turn) delivers incredi- ble maneuverability, turf protection and remarkable traction — even on steep inclines — due to Cub Cadet's exclusive 4-wheel steering technology (patented as Synchro Steer Technology). The TANK LZ (which denotes Lap-bar Zero turn) features an intelligent and responsive lap bar system that allows for a full range of adjusta- bility and rider egress regardless of position. The all-new TANK LZ and TANK SZ boast sophisticated commer- cial features like an advanced cutting system, lifetime warranty on the frame, a high-performance power train, and advanced driver ergonomics and controls. Dixie Chopper LP unit Dixie Chopper pioneered the mowing industry's first true propane-powered machine in 2005. With environmen- tal concerns in mind, the Dixie Chopper LP unit was designed to run as a true propane machine, and does not require a conversion kit. This design allows for better fuel efficiency, and prevents a loss of horsepower that is associated with a conversion kit. The 2012 Xcaliber LP unit offers a 30-hp. engine. It comes with the option of a 66- or 74-inch cutting width. The Dixie Chopper LP boasts the ability to cut 6.69 acres per hour, and is backed by warranty. Exmark Lazer Z X-Series Exmark Lazer Z X-Series mowers are available with a 60-inch full-floating UltraCut Series 6 cutting deck, al- lowing up to 8.4 acres per hour to be mowed. The Lazer Z X-Series is powered by a 25-hp. Kohler Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) or Kawasaki V-Twin propane engine, allowing for speeds up to 11.5-mph forward and 7-mph reverse. The Lazer Z X-Series also features the Exmark-exclusive Parker unitized pump and wheel motor system (with no hoses), integrated cooling fans, and an integrated reservoir for improved performance and reduced maintenance. Ferris IS 3100ZP propane-powered commercial mower The Ferris IS 3100ZP propane-powered mower is available in 2 models: IS3100ZPBV3261 and IS3100ZPBV3272. Both models boast an 895cc Briggs & Stratton Vanguard Big Block V-Twin engine and a 61- or 72-inch cutting width. These propane-powered mowers offer several advantages, including reduced emis- sions (EPA and CARB certified); lower fuel costs (propane is, on average, less expensive than gasoline or diesel fuels); and long run times (estimated run time on 2 tanks — each containing 34 pounds of propane — is 8-10 hours of cutting under normal conditions). In addition, the propane system is sealed, so contaminates (debris) cannot enter the system. Propane also cannot go stale and can be stored longer. 20 Landscape and Irrigation November/December 2011 www.landscapeirrigation.com
