KEY FEATURE Everyone's IRISH this month! WITH ST. PATRICKS DAY on a Saturday this year, bars and restaurants are expecting an extra busy weekend. After all, "everyone's Irish" on St.Paddy's day (weekend) in Milwaukee. We're here to separate the true Irish pubs from the ones who are only Irish once a year. With that, here's the KEY guide to Milwaukee's finest St. Patrick's Day pubs: COUNTY CLARE 1234 N. Astor St., (414) 272-5273 An Irish restaurant, pub, and inn all rolled into one, there's arguably no better Irish experience than the legendary County Clare. You'll swear you were detoured to Ireland on your way to Milwaukee when you step inside and sip on a Guinness or try one of their many Irish delicacies, including corned beef and cabbage. Grab a room and spend the night there for maximum Irish authenticity. FITZGIBBONS PUB 1127 N. Water St., (414) 278-8847 Fitz's boasts "over 105 years of bitter bartend- ing," but you'll find nothing but friendly folks once you walk inside. The building has been around since 1933 and displays pictures of Old Milwaukee all over the walls. Owner Dan Fitzgibbons says his establishment offers "free advice and criticism, complimentary ice with each cocktail" and "indoor bathrooms." TRINITY THREE IRISH PUBS 125 E. Juneau Ave., (414) 278-7033 Trinity is actually three Irish pubs (Duffy's, Foy's, and Gallagher's) together in one mega-Irish com- plex, a dream come true for anyone looking to brag that they visited three Irish pubs without having to walk more than 30 feet. Trinity is packed on the weekends, where you'll usually find live music and a healthy mix of young and old scattered throughout the bars. They also serve food, including traditional Irish fare. Better yet, they'll be open at 6 a.m. on St. Patrick's Day, per- fect for those who like to see the sunrise and sun- set while enjoying a pint. THE HARP IRISH PUB 113 E. Juneau Ave., (414) 289-0700 Located across the street from Trinity, The Harp has one of the best patio views in Milwaukee. While it might be a bit cold on St. Patrick's Day, don't let it stop you from stepping outside and taking in the sights of downtown and the Milwaukee River. The Harp has your usual Irish beers as well as great food to go along with it. THE IRISH PUB 124 N. Water St., (414) 225-9400 This cozy Irish pub is located in the stylish Third Ward and features traditional Irish amenities alongside plenty of TV screens for watching your favorite sports, including rugby, which is a trade- mark of sorts for this great corner bar. Definitely a great spot to sip your Jameson (neat, please!) and watch the ruggers. 19
