Floral arrangements mirror art at Milwaukee Art Museum JUST WHEN WE need it most, Art In Bloombrings a breath of spring to Milwaukee. This year, the annual tribute to art and flowers at the Milwaukee Art Museum is March 29-April 1. Showcasing the talents of 45 renowned floral designers interpreting masterworks from the muse- um's collection, the weekend brings together gar- dening, floral arranging, and landscape design, inspired by the art beneath the wings of the muse- um. Exhibition programs include lectures and presenta- tions with celebrity floral designers and master gar- deners Zannah Crowe, Mark Dwyer, Melinda Myers, and René van Rems, among others. Presentations and lectures focus on European High Style design, shade perennial selections, colorful gardens, and easy methods for growing orchids. Visitors will enjoy the multi-vendor indoor market- place with original garden sculptures and floral- inspired dining at Café Calatrava. For 2012, Art in Bloom expands outdoors with a heated tent, allowing for more displays and a first- ever Art in Bloom wine garden. Also new this year is the event's Iron Designer competition, with past award winners coming together to design a floral arrangement in less than one hour. A schedule is available at mam.org/bloom. Tickets for presentations and lectures that have not sold out will be available at the event. Drop-in tours are booked every half hour, 10 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. and Thursdays 12:30–6:30 p.m. Tours last one hour. The Milwaukee Art Museum is located at 700 N. Art Museum Dr. on the lakefront. Hours are extended during Art in Bloom to 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
