Dinos added to the lineup at the zoo TAKE A TRIP BACK to prehistoric times at the Milwaukee County Zoo as Adventure Dinosaur returns to inhabit the Milwaukee County Zoo, 10001 W. Bluemound Rd. The dinos last visited the zoo during 2010. This outdoor special exhibit, complete with sound effects and tropical plants, includes more than 20 dinosaur models. New dino guests in 2012 include the 300-pound, 15-foot-long, adult Massospondylus and her baby. Another new guest, the Edmontonia, looks like an oversized armadillo – except this 22-foot-long, 3.5- ton creature has sharp spikes along its tail and head and ridged bony plates on its back and tail. The 38-foot long Acrocanthosaurus is a bi-pedal carnivore that shows-off thin, serrated teeth and a head that's almost five feet long! Back for a return engagement is the ever-popular "saliva" spitting Dilophosaurus. Also a crowd favorite is the Tyrannosaurus rex, baby T. rex. and their nest. TIME TO PLAY Bill Schanen IV Visitors can explore the technical workings of these models by viewing a Deinonychus robot skeleton that displays the inner workings of these menacing models. Visitors can work the joysticks themselves to figure out just how these creatures are able to move and rumble like their prehistoric counterparts. Adventure Dinosaur, sponsored by Sendik's Food Markets, is open daily, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit is located behind the Small Mammals Building – just follow the T. rex footprints to discover this tropical land. Admission is $2.50 per person, after regular zoo admission. Countryside Lakeside 24 Just 15 minutes north of downtown Milwaukee.
