ANGELENE "ANGIE" GERMANO ITALIAN GALLERY WOMAN OF THE YEAR 2016 Angie Germano, from St. Anthony Court 674 in Rockford, Illinois, has been awarded Italian Gallery Woman of the Year! Angie's Italian heritage stems way back to being granddaughter to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sacco. Her grandpa Paul Sacco owned and operated a grocery store where as a young girl she learned about Italian foods. She is the second daughter of Vernon and Theresa (Sacco) Corirossi's three children. Angie graduated from St. Anthony School and in 1958 married her husband John Germano. They share two daughters, son-in-law, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. As president of the Altar and Rosary Society she has served for the past seven years in efforts to increase membership, guide and encourage others. Her passion continues in promoting awareness and encouraging volunteerism and service in the Rockford community. Her motto ... "Bloom were God Plants You." In 2013 Angie was chosen as "Woman of the Year" and honored at the Rockford Deanery Banquet Recognizing Women of Inspiration." She is a devout advocate for the Alzheimer's Association, Rock River Valley Pantry, Rockford Rescue Mission, and for several years worked tirelessly fund raising for the LZ Peace Vietnam Veterans Memorial located at Midway Village. As a 15-year member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters, Angie has served as Court 674 Treasurer. In 2013 she was nominated for Fraternalist of the Year. This award is given to a member who inspires and motivates others as a volunteer in their court, community, and parish. She asks co-workers if they would like to volunteer to help out; family and friends have often become involved because she asked. She has made an insert to go in our parish bulletin with a picture of older members, male members, and a child member telling people that NCSF accepts everyone for membership. She tries to thank everyone who comes and helps at NCSF events and let them know they are appreciated. Cathy has gathered a few co-workers to begin donating blood; she tells them they are giving life by giving blood. She herself is a blood donor and is signed up to be an organ donor when she passes.
