S hane Gordon's stepfather, Jerry Welch, has been driving trucks since 1972, when he came home from the Vietnam War. Gordon is happy to have followed in Welch's footsteps. The 29-year- old began working for Crete Carrier Corpora on a year and a half ago, a er driving trucks for 10 years in the Army and deploying to Iraq three mes. "Driving is my third favorite thing to do in the world — right behind hunt- ing and fishing," Gordon says. "I love driving everywhere. I love taking long road trips." Growing up, Gordon spent his sum- mers on the road with Welch, whom he calls Dad. "One summer, we started out in Hermitage, Missouri, and went all the way to up to Washington state and back down through California and across the Southern states and got to see the Grand Canyon," he says.
