A BUSY 2017
AS THE OFF-PREMISE INDUSTRY
recovers from the hectic holiday season, we
turn our attention to the coming year and the
opportunities it presents. This is a pivotal year
for Beverage Dynamics, as we hold the inaugural
Beverage Alcohol Retailers Conference, an
educational event for independent, off-premise
retailers. Consider this your offi cial invitation
to join me in Minneapolis in June, where you
can attend the only event devoted to helping
beverage alcohol retailers improve their business.
The recentlycannounced keynoters for BARC – Liquor Stores, NA Presi-
dent Stephen Bebis and retail expert Tom Shay – will headline our two days
of panel discussions, tasting sessions and educational seminars. Both keynote
speakers have decades-long careers in retail and are eager to share what
they've learned with independent store owners to help them survive and
thrive in today's changing marketplace.
We've also partnered with a number of industry associations, including an
agreement with the American Wine School to hold a WSET Level-2 Wine
and Spirits certifi cation exam at the event. And we'll be presenting the 2017
Retailers of the Year Awards at BARC. If you haven't entered, nominate
yourself or an industry partner at www.BeverageDynamics.com/retaileroft-
heyear. Entries are due no later than February 3.
Whether this is the fi rst you're hearing of BARC, or a timely reminder
about the event, I hope you'll visit our website, www.BevRetailersCon-
ference.com, to fi nd out more information. The full agenda, registration
form and information about our host hotel, the Radisson Blu Downtown
Minneapolis, are now
available. And you can
also read more details
about our speakers and
sessions in the BARC
brochure on page 23 of
this issue.
BARC is a unique
opportunity for retail-
ers to meet colleagues
from other markets,
share business ideas and learn about new technologies and trends. My goal
is to help you improve sales and provide a better experience to your cus-
tomers. I hope you'll join me there in June to see for yourself what BARC
is all about.
