Equipment Focus New Equipment Recap 2012 Each year, there is a wide range of new (or updated) equipment offerings introduced for landscape and irrigation professionals. The following is an overview of some of the innovations to hit the market in 2012: Bobcat 500 frame-size loaders Replacing the most popular line of Bobcat loaders, the 500 frame-size skid-steer and compact track loaders are part of the new M-series line, featuring durability and performance enhancements that provide operators increased uptime, improved visibility and a more comfortable cab. The cab-forward design moves the operator closer to the attachment, and provides unmatched visibility in all directions. Simple checkpoints and superior design make it easier to perform maintenance correctly at the proper intervals; and the hydraulic systems on M-Series loaders have been engineered for higher standard flow and pressure that give attachments more power to work more quickly. Bradco Ground Shark The Bradco Ground Shark extreme-duty brush cutter by Paladin Attachments attaches to high-flow skid-steers for increased production, maximum reliability, and ease of maintenance when clearing tough ground vegetation, brush and sapling trees up to 7 inches in diameter. Four blades with alternating bevels provide deep penetrating, self-clearing, axe-like cuts, and spin on a heavy-duty retention disc for increased stability and smooth operation. To increase blade wear life, the 3/4-inch-thick high-grade steel blades are designed to rotate in when there is contact with an obstacle. The exclusive, patent-pending, fully enclosed auto-retractable front shield allows for maximum blade utilization and optimized debris deflection; and the heavy-construction push bar prevents trees from falling back toward the machine for increased safety. Bradco Series II mulchers The Bradco Series II mulchers by Paladin Attachments attach to excavators, skid-steers and forestry tractors to shred hardwood trees, brush and ground vegetation up to 8 inches in diameter. Available in cutting widths of 36, 60 and 72 inches, they feature a heavy-duty bent-axis variable displacement piston motor that offers better performance on demand, prevents stalling under heavy loads, and provides a quicker recovery time. The mulchers can be switched between prime movers without changing hydraulic motors, belts or belt drive sprockets/pulleys. The drive train's synchronous belt drive system eliminates belt and belt drive sprocket/pulley slippage to lower operating cost and maintenance needs. Patented interchangeable tooth design keeps each tooth seated in its holder with a cross bar that runs the full width of each tooth. CORE Outdoor Power GasLess handheld blower and hedge trimmers CORE Outdoor Power expanded its suite of GasLess products to include a state-of-the-art handheld blower and hedge trimmer. The products come equipped with CORE GasLess motor technology. They are powerful, lightweight, run just as long as a tank of gas and have the ability to exceed noise, efficiency and emission standards. The CB420 handheld blower weighs only 11 pounds, runs up to 400 cubic feet per minute and produces winds up to 110 miles per hour. The 12-pound CHT410 hedge trimmer features run times of up to 90 minutes, with the same powerful, noise-free operation. CORE Outdoor Power also introduced the Quad Power Pak, which is compatible with all CORE products and functions as both a backpack and a mobile charging system. Country Clipper Jazee Pro DLX Country Clipper introduced the Jazee Pro Deluxe (DLX) for users seeking more power and comfort. The DLX is powered by a 27-hp. Kohler Command Pro commercial-duty engine with improved valve technology and a heavy-duty canister air filter, which provides more power, improved fuel economy, and reduced oil consumption. The DLX is equipped with twin Hydro-Gear ZT-3100 hydrostatic transaxles for speed and power. Along with a 60-inch cutting deck, the DLX also has an enhanced comfort seat for an enjoyable ride. The DLX also features Country Clipper's patented stand-up deck and joystick steering option for easy use and maintenance. Crysteel Aluminum E-Tipper Crysteel Manufacturing, Inc.'s Aluminum E-Tipper is constructed of 3/16-inch 5052 aluminum. Dimensions are custom depending on chassis cab to axle distance, chassis payload capacity and unique customer specifications; and capacity ranges from 2 yards up to 5 yards. The Aluminum E-Tipper perfectly matches hard-working durability with lightweight efficiency. Weighing up to 50 percent less than traditional carbon steel dump bodies, aluminum's lightweight profile saves fuel costs, as well as tire and brake costs, while increasing payload capacity. In addition, the long lasting and durable Aluminum E-Tipper provides contractors corrosion resistance and lower maintenance costs. It features a 5-year warranty. 12 Landscape and Irrigation November/December 2012 www.landscapeirrigation.com
