50 | Overdrive | June 2018 Custom Rigs A llen Boles won his second Minimizer Bandit Big Rig Series race in as many events April 21 at Motor Mile Speedway in Fairlawn, Virginia. Two weeks later on May 5, defend- ing series champion Ricky "Rude" Proffitt claimed his first victory of the 2018 season at Concord Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. In Virginia, Boles had to battle Proffitt for several laps before getting out front and holding on for the vic- tory. Boles, owner of 18-truck fleet Jupiter Enterprises, also won the season opener at Mobile International Speedway in Alabama in March. Boles started the race in sixth and worked his way up near the front by the time a caution flag flew on the seventh lap. Mark Noble and Proffitt restarted after the caution in first and second, but a slow restart by Noble al- lowed Boles to jump into second and eventually claim the win. In North Carolina, the only tri-oval on the Bandit schedule presented several challenges for the racers, as five caution flags flew during the 30- lap race. Proffitt started in ninth, and after just a few laps, he grabbed the lead and never looked back. After his win, Proffitt took the lead in the overall points standings, fol- lowed by Noble in second and Boles in third. Following a June 9 race in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, are these dates: Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, June 23; Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pennsylvania, July 7; Salem Speedway in Salem, Indiana, July 14; and La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in La Crosse, Wisconsin, July 28.
