June 2018 | Overdrive | 51 Custom Rigs ReadeR Rigs One fancy doghouse U.S. Marine Corps veteran Ray "Buzz" Koser Jr. of Burnsville, Minnesota, uses his 2006 Peterbilt 379 to haul freight in a 53-foot van. The truck is powered by a Cat C15 and an Eaton-Fuller 13-speed. It has an ARI 120-inch rear-door sleeper with a shower, sink, microwave, refrigerator, freezer and 32-inch TV. To accommodate the sleeper, the wheelbase was stretched to 300 inches. Koser travels with his 170-pound English mastiff, Mic. Purple power George Shaver retired after 32 years as a detective sergeant and now uses his 2001 Peterbilt 379 to run trees and nursery products for Worthington Farms of Greenville, North Carolina. He runs across the United States, but mainly on the East Coast. The truck is powered by a 475- hp Cat and a 10-speed. Shaver added the custom paint job with flames on the hood, a 22-inch bumper with custom lights and 8-inch miter stacks; the frame also is painted purple. Shaver, who lives in eastern North Carolina, also works as a part- time CDL instructor and state examiner. He uses the truck to help teach children about the importance of truck drivers. Tank-yankin' 389 Perry Walton drives this 2014 Peterbilt 389 flattop owned by Willie Stroup for Time Dedicated Carriers of Rockport, Indiana, pulling a 2016 Tremcar 7,000-gallon liquid tank. The truck is powered by a 550-hp 6NZ Cat with a 13-speed and 3:36 rears.
