What is a Fraternal Fraternal benefit societies are membership groups that unite individuals with a common bond, provide them the ability to secure their families' financial security through a variety of life insurance and investment products, and form one of the nation's most effective and efficient volunteer networks, delivering billions of dollars of direct financial aid and community service to those who need it most. Source: American Fraternal Alliance The National Catholic Society of Foresters' (NCSF) common bond is being a practical member of the Roman Catholic Church. Upon submission and approval of a membership application, the new member shall be admitted to a court. The court is where members join others with the same common bond and work together to help their community and parish, by putting into action the motto for NCSF which is Love, Benevolence and Charity. Types of Membership A beneficial member is one named as the Insured or Annuitant in a benefit certificate issued by the Society and is in good standing and entitled to all privileges of membership. A social member is one who is not named as the Insured or Annuitant in any benefit certificate issued by the Society. Social members are in good standing as long as the social dues are paid and the member otherwise meets all provisions of the NCSF Constitution and Laws Sec.1.03 Classification of Membership (a) and (c). benefits of a fraternal Fraternals – in addition to financial service products – offer members a variety of benefits. NCSF offers Catholic grade and high school tuition-aid grants, college, in-college and occupational training scholarships, communication grants and a matching funds program for those who are studying for deaconate, priesthood or religious life. Additional benefits available through NCSF membership include contests for adults and children; membership awards of 25- and 50-year pins, a 60-year crystal rosary and 70-year members receive a living perpetual prayer enrollment; ScriptSave® prescription drug discount card; newborn child and orphan benefit programs, and accelerated death benefits. Moving Faith into Action A fraternal's financial contributions made to worthy organizations, and the structure for the volunteer efforts carried out by their members, are funded by the proceeds generated by the sale of life insurance and other financial service products to members.
