McBride also cited benefits of the Anton Paar Alcolyzer that uses near infrared spectroscopy. It provides good throughput for alcohol analyses and can run samples with up to 20% alcohol and 20% sugar without requiring dilution, enabling direct analysis of port-style and dessert wines.
