Faith, Fraternalism, ... and fishing? Just as Jesus taught Peter how to cast out his net, making him a fisher of men, now has never been a better time to empower our youth members to lead the Society into the future, giving them opportunities to put their faith in action while serving as an example to the many benefits of membership. Our focus on education through college scholarships, Catholic school grants, vocation training and more positions us to become an important element in the life of our youth members. Add to that our Catholic faith and values and the protection our products provide and we become a necessary element in their lives. But as much as they may need us, we also need them to carry on the traditions and values that have been over a century in the making. In the coming months and well into 2014, we will be reaching out to our youth members to participate in focus groups, surveys and activities to help us learn what they want from their membership. Please help us by sharing any insights you may have from junior activities or court events you have held. Contact the fraternal department at (800) 344-6273 ext. 208 or email Karen_Kruger@ncsf.com. With the quickly and ever-changing world around us, it is imperative that we don't lose, or dilute, those values, but instead find ways to engage today's youth, meeting them where they are, discovering ways to become ever more relevant in their lives, and encouraging them to share their faith story with their peers—thereby adding to the educational (and evangelical) benefits of the Society, and in the process, creating a whole new generation of "fishers".
