Hand in Hand, Coming Welcome Back! Fraternal Coordinator Karen Kruger Karen Kruger returns to National Catholic Society of Foresters as fraternal coordinator after a 13-year absence. She is very excited to be back and looks forward to being part of a renewed and Christ-centered fraternal experience, while reconnecting with old friends and finding many new ones among our members. During her absence from the Society she served as regional manager for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society working with members, developing programs, and acting as advocate. However, her greatest blessing during that time was serving as a full-time day care provider for 10 of the years to her two grandsons, Liam and Ethan, now 10 and 6 years old. Throughout Karen has and continues to hold many volunteer roles in her parish and community that include: Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, head of the Art & Environment Committee, charitable event planning raising funds for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, co-chair of the 1st local "Walk for the Poor" event with St. Vincent DePaul Society, cochair of several St. Joseph Tables, Minister of Care, editor of the Village of Sleepy Hollow newsletter, as well as other areas of involvement. When away from work, Karen enjoys short rides on the motorcycle with her husband of 34 years, Jim. Together they have two grown children, Kristina (mother of her grandsons) and Jim III, a wonderful son-in-law Bill and a new daughter-in-law Danielle. She enjoys trying her hand at all the arts and is currently throwing pottery on the wheel. She enjoys retreats to the mountains out West, and reading. 16 Above: St. Mary Court 815 in Norway-IA At the Norway Sesquicentennial Celebration in August, Court 815 provided a booth for a bake sale and craft goods to be sold in the elementary gymnasium. A quilt was made and donated to the event by Susan Volz for silent auction, and sold for $110! Together they raised $1,410 and NCSF matched $1,000.
