Fraternalist 2013 Year OF tHE Angelene Germano is our 2013 Fraternalist of the Year! The fraternalist of the year is an honor presented by NCSf to recognize an individual who, through example and accomplishments, provided outstanding volunteer service to their court, our Society, and the local community. angelene is that member who inspires and motivates others. Angelene (Angie) Germano is a 15-year member of St. Anthony Court 674 of Rockford, IL. She has served as the court treasurer for five years. She never hesitates to sign up for chairman of a committee to work. She regularly volunteers to work for Rock River Valley Food Pantry, currently helping to put labels on canned goods that arrive by the cases. Angie helped serve lunch or supper to homeless men, women, and children and collected towels, wash cloths, and items for toiletry bags for the Rockford Rescue Mission. Angie has given time to residents at River Bluff Nursing Home helping with bingo games – a Court 674 project. Another court project was making sandwiches to serve Habitat for Humanity workers. She has helped collect packaged food, snacks, bed linens, bath towels, CD's, and non-perishable items for "Freedom Packages" for servicemen and women in Iraq. Angie also helped collect and deliver to the Mother House Crisis Nursery fresh foods, frozen foods, non-perishables, and household supplies. COMMUnITy And PARIsh seRvICe Angie's parish is St. Anthony of Padua. Now through 2014, as well as in 2010, Angie was elected president of the Altar & Rosary Society. Her initiatives have increased its membership by 38 members, now totaling 119. She has researched and purchased the Blue Ribbon Medals worn by parish members and given to homebound members that she and others visit on a regular basis. Angie started the plan to bake cookies for the homebound in nursing homes and distributed by volunteers at Christmas time. She participates in the church cookie walk, Holy Thursday Mass and is a Eucharistic Minister. In 2011 Angie chaired the annual card party and signed up to be part of Respect For Life. She is a member of the parish council that meets six times a year with parish priests and council members to discuss parish projects and parish business. Thank you to our nominees!
