The following is Pernicano's letter in its entirety. • • • As you know, the Board of Directors came to a decision in the fall that AFA should be a self-managed association beginning January 1, 2014, with new headquarters located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. To that end, dedicated Task Forces enthusiastically went to work to search for an Executive Director who would be directly employed by AFA, as well as office space, professional support staff, equipment, and much more. The Board of Directors traveled to Dallas in late November to interview the final candidates and professional staff and visit potential office space. I am excited to report that we have successfully accomplished our objectives. Beginning January 1, 2014, AFA's own Tony Thornton, CFP, CAGOI, will assume the fulltime duties of Executive Director of AFA. He will be relocating to the Dallas area. Tony will be supported by Fusion Performance Marketing, LLC (FUSION), located at 6404 International Parkway, Plano, Booth No. 710 Texas. FUSION will provide Tony and AFA with experienced support professionals, including Alexa Churchwell, Stephen Dennis, and Michael Miller. AFA's offices will be located in the FUSION suite. The Board of Directors has decided that dues invoices should be sent to members just after January 1, 2014. By that time AFA's data- Santo Pernicano base will be trans- Master Halco ferred and new AFA president accounts established so that FUSION can efficiently administer the billing and collection of dues. FUSION is already working with Rick Church and Tony Thornton CM Services to AFA executive director begin the transition process. We have developed a plan with detailed procedures so that the transition can be accomplished as quickly as possible. AFA's programs will continue under the guidance of CM Services staff until the end of the year, but the remainder of this month will be substantially devoted to transition activities. FUSION's expert trade show staff will produce FENCETECH 2014 and associated events in Las Vegas and will provide all necessary support to FENCETECH Chairs Rod Wilson and Dennis Hammer. Lynn Hayworth, Bob Burton and the Education Team will handle all the educational seminars. Be assured that we expect the AFA will operate as smoothly as possible throughout this process. We will report on our progress and make recommendations to you in the months ahead as we move into this new chapter of AFA's life and take a fresh look at our needs and opportunities. We look forward to our future as we institute these exciting changes. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your continued support during this exciting time of transition.
