14 OLYMPIC VIEW'S KEVIN MAXWELL TAKES TITLE AT ARBUTUS RIDGE Kevin Maxwell from fellow GolfBC Group's facility, Olympic View shot 68, 67 to win the 2014 AR Open. Said GM on Facebook, "We hope the amateurs enjoyed the $10,000 prize table & the pros enjoyed the purse! Thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors & participants. Great feedback on conditions, food and overall service - see you all next year." THE FUTURE IS NOW FOR BEAR MOUNTAIN Ecoasis Developments, who purchased the Bear Mountain lands and assets last October, has announced that the future build out of the community will include keeping all 36-holes of the Mountain and Valley courses. "Our goal at Bear Mountain is to become the finest resort/residential community in Canada," confirmed Dan Matthews, managing partner and founder of Ecoasis. For the courses, this means the 10th hole of the Mountain layout will come out of play effective Jan 27th and the stunning extra par three hole (referred until now as the optional 19th) will come into play, enabling Ecoasis to move ahead with the build-out of the Hedgestone neighbourhood bringing new golf course lots to market this summer. Also to appeal to a wider group of golfers, two returning nines will be offered on The Valley Course in 2014. "This will be great for the course, and the community," said Jordan Ray, Director of Golf at Bear Mountain. "People are busy and we get asked all the time if it's possible to play 9 holes. Two returning 9's will open up our facility to more golfers..." Darren Burns, Golf Superintendent at Bear Mountain, welcomes the changes along with an increased budget to improve the courses. "We are thrilled to receive the recognition and support for new equipment that will improve the quality of the courses and the play experience for everyone. Ecoasis is making a genuine commitment to the greens department and the maintenance program here at Bear Mountain." bearmountain.ca FAIRWINDS GOLF CLUB New here this spring is the 'Friends of Fairwinds' program, the best way to save throughout the year.
