FedEx, Con-way
seeing Teamster
organizing efforts
Drivers at FedEx Freight's ter-
minal in South Brunswick,
N.J., voted 66-42 last month to
join Teamsters Local 701. The
group became the second in
the company to organize, after
drivers in Croydon, Pa., voted
to join the Teamsters Local
107, based in Philadelphia,
Oct. 14.
Other campaigns at FedEx
Freight and Con-way Freight
are under way across the coun-
try. The workers' campaigns
to join the Teamsters already
have paid off, the union said.
After organizing got under
way at Con-way, the com-
pany announced it would
increase truck driver pay
by $60 million in 2015, among
other improvements. Con-way
Freight's employees in Man-
chester, N.H., voted Nov. 13
against union representation,
29-15, according to a company
statement.
According to the Teamsters,
FedEx Freight announced
an
80-cent-per-hour raise a

for an election, and the com-
pany also got rid of its "overly
punitive" driver scorecard that
gave drivers infraction points
for errors.
FedEx Freight workers in
Newark, N.J., on Nov. 12 voted
57-44 against union represen-
tation.
FedEx Freight also said
that a vote was scheduled for
the North Harrisburg service
center in Middletown, Pa., but
that the union withdrew the
election petition.
