JHD 2012 JOIN HANDS DAY IS MAY 5, 2012 Your court can participate by partnering with one or more community groups (e.g. American Legion, a grade school or CCD class, Girl Scouts / Boy Scouts, 4-H Club, etc.) to plan and complete a project that will benefi t your community. Invite the visually impaired to a special bowling event. Hold a fashion show, silent auction & dessert reception to benefit a worthy cause. Assemble "Summer Fun Reading Bags" for children to encourage reading and learning over the summer. Refurbish or build a new playground in a neighborhood, park, childcare center or foster children's home. Plant a vegetable garden at a seniors' residence or children's center. Winter 2012 — www.ncsf.com 2008 Pictured above: For JHD 2008 Court 517 threw a patriotic celebration with the 6th grade LOGOS class and the VFW Auxiliary Post 3900. Along with pizza and treats; patriotic give-aways and prayer cards; the patriotic celebration included the Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem, the American's Creed, and the Preamble. They also displayed the American and POW fl ags and gave a discussion on the 'POW Missing Man' table — as well as the meaning of the folds of the American fl ag. 27 This is a day to bring youth and adults together through volunteering. Together, the generations join to plan and carry out projects in their own neighborhoods.
