From the National Secretary Minutes of the quarterly meeting of the Board of Directors of National Catholic Society of Foresters. The September quarterly meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Catholic Society of Foresters was called to order by National President Margaret Babinat on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 7:20 p.m. in the board room of the Home Office. All members of the Board were present. The meeting opened with a prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States. National President Margaret Babinat reviewed the proposed agenda. Motion by National Treasurer Jon Mocol, seconded by National Director Catherine Hensel to approve the agenda was defeated. 4 Yes – 7 No. Motion by National Director Rosalie Pyle, seconded by National Director Linda Ortiz, we accept the adjusted agenda as presented for the September 2011 board meeting. Motion passed 11 Yes – 0 No. Motion by National Director Catherine Hensel and seconded by National Director Loretta Nelson that the Board of Directors accept the consent calendar items for the September 2011 board meeting. Motion passed 11 Yes – 0 No. Executive Officer reports were given: National Treasurer Jon Mocol's report covered: • Cash Position at JP Morgan Chase Bank • Investment Position at Harris Investment Trust • Internal Operations • Second Quarter Financial Highlights • Other Board Business – Approval of Appointed Actuary – Approval of Pension Actuary Motion by National Treasurer Jon Mocol and seconded by National Director Linda Ortiz, we appoint McCloud Nichols as our pension actuary beginning August 2011. Motion passed 11 Yes – 0 No. Winter 2012 — www.ncsf.com National Secretary Patricia DeNys' report covered the following items for the months of June, July and August for 2011: • Number of Insurance and Annuity Certificates issued • Death Claims paid on Life Certificates • Death Claims paid on Annuity Certificates • Cash Surrenders on Life Certificates • Cash Surrenders on Annuity Certificates • Lapsed Life Certificates • Cancelled Certificates • Declined Certificates National President Margaret Babinat reported on: • Transition of NCSF checking account from Chase Morgan to Mount Prospect State Bank as of July 1, 2011. • Open Enrollment with Trinet the Society's Professional Employee Organization PEO for employee's benefits. • Meetings attended: – Davenport Diocesan Association – Iowa Fraternal Congress • Retirement event for Linda Zuchel and Carmene Tomaska. • Communication Grant Program to various dioceses. Grants were awarded to: – Archdiocese of Dubuque, Iowa – Diocese of Duluth, Minnesota – Diocese of Madison, Wisconsin – Diocese of Marquette, Michigan – Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Diocese of New Ulm, Minnesota – Diocese of St. Cloud, Minnesota • Meeting with Actuaries Lori Newberg, FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries), MAAA (Member of the American Academy of Actuaries) and John R. Miller, FSA, MAAA of Miller and Newberg to review our products. • Prepared for the installation of the new IBM main frame "Power Seven" over the Labor Day holiday. • Employee appreciation luncheon on September 2nd.
