Ethical Issues and Well Inspections by Groundwater Professionals Wednesday, December 16 2–3 p.m. Preparing written reports based on inspection and sampling of water supply wells has created a diversification niche for some water well contractors. State laws generally dictate who is qualified to inspect and sample wells and such laws where they exist can vary signifi- cantly. The aspect often missing from the entire process is ethical considera- tions that could arise when contractors perform such inspections. This work- shop will address the variety of con- siderations those who perform such inspections must consider, accurately detail, and reliably represent the integrity of the profession. Presenter: Gary L. Hix, CWD/PI, RG, CPG, In2Wells LLC DACUM Codes: DOA2, DOA3, DOE6, DOF1, DOF2, DOG9, DOJ1, DOJ2, DOK14, DOK5, DOL9, PIE21, PIE22, PIF8, PIF9, PIG10, PIG12, PIG2, PIG7, PIG8 How NGWA's Business Tools Can Make Your Business More Profitable Tuesday, December 15 8–9 a.m. Whether you are new to the ground- water industry or are conducting a regu- lar fiscal physical of your company, NGWA business tools can help you gen- erate revenue and keep more of that rev- enue as profit. This session will feature NGWA's business tools created by those in the industry to address the challenges of bidding and estimating, invoicing, and proper pump sizing. You will learn how NGWA's cost calculators and the NGWA Pump Sizer can assist in captur- ing all expense areas and offer each business owner and manager the flexi- bility to customize each tool for a spe- cific company's need and situation. Presenter: Jessica Rhoads, National Ground Water Association DACUM Codes: DOA6, DOB8, DOB9, DOJ7, DOK1, PIC11, PIC2, PIC4, PIC5, PIG4, PIG5, PIG6 Permit Exempt Wells Tuesday, December 15 8–9 a.m. In most western states, property own- ers have long enjoyed a right to divert relatively small amounts of groundwater without any requirement to obtain a state-issued permit. Over the past decade this practice has come under heightened scrutiny from state regula- tors and interest groups. Most often the expressed concern has to do with the potential for permit exempt wells to ad- versely impact senior water rights. This session will explore the role of permit exempt wells in the expanding dispute over rural western development, includ- 30 October 2015 WWJ EXPO from page 29 Arrive Early and Take In a Course You don't have to wait until the Groundwater Expo to begin your professional development.
