PRODUCT ROUNDUP EQUIPMENT FOCUS 30 JANUARY 2016 OUTDOOR POWER EQUIPMENT www.outdoorpowerequipment.com PRODUCT ROUNDUP PRODUCTS SUBARU'S EX SERIES ENGINES Subaru's EX Series engines are the first to use high-performance chain-driven overhead cam (OHC) technology in the industrial air-cooled market. Featuring 4 models ranging from 4.3 to 14 hp., the EX Series offers more power, easier starting and quieter operation than same-class competitive engines. In addition, the EX Series is covered by Subaru's new 5-year limited warranty. A standard for high-performance automotive engines, chain-driven OHC technol- ogy allows the intake and exhaust valves to be positioned for optimum performance. This offers lower resistance for the air/fuel mixture flow. Designed with a highly efficient pent-roof-type combustion chamber, the EX engines are able to use a high compression ratio, producing higher power and torque while limiting exhaust emissions and fuel consumption. Easier starts are another advantage of the EX engines. An automatic decompression system reduces the required recoil pulling force by 30-40 percent when compared with overhead valve (OHV) engine designs. In conjunction with the newly designed combustion chamber, starts are fast and easy with no perceptible kickback. With fewer moving parts, OHC engines produce less mechanical noise than competitive technolo- gies. The EX engines take it a step further by using optimized-capacity rigid mufflers. Together, these features make the EX engines a full 2-dBA (decibel level) quieter and softer in exhaust tone than other same-class engines. Subaru Industrial Power Products TORO PREMIUM FUEL TREATMENT OFFERS ENGINE PROTECTION IN A NEW PACKAGE Toro Premium Fuel Treatment helps ensure clean, reliable engine performance while provid- ing protection against the harmful effects of ethanol — and now it's available in convenient new packaging. The all-new, 12-ounce, red-tinted bottle features a snap-on measuring cup with a keep-clean lid that makes it easy to measure and pour the precise amount of treatment into a gas can. This innovative design offers a more accurate way of measuring and includes graduations in milliliters and ounces on both the measuring cup and bottle. In addition, the cup is reusable and transferable to other bottles of the same type. Toro partnered with custom lubricants manufacturer Lube-Tech to create the new bottle. The snap-on measuring cup is the first of its kind in the fuel treatment and lubricants industry — an innovation that helped the new Toro Premium Fuel Treatment packaging win the 2015 AmeriStar Packaging Award in the Household, Industrial and Chemical category. The bottle is made from fully compatible materials that resist paneling, an effect where bottle walls partially collapse inward due to air pressure differences within the bottle. Molded from polyethylene terephthalate (PET), the container is designed to withstand the harsh solvents used in fuel treat- ments, which can damage labels or discolor other plastic bottle materials.
