Arthur and Agnes Schmitt of West Union celebrated their 65th anniversary, along with Agnes' 88th birthday, with a family gathering last November. Arthur and Agnes (Riha) were married in 1950, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, Iowa. They are the parents of four daughters: Terri (Cal) Drew, Marie (Chuck) Riha, Irene (Tom) Frantzen, Wilma (Robert) Meyer. They have eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchil dren. The Schmitt family belongs to St. Lucia Court 233, St. Lucas, Iowa. They farmed many years in the St. Lucas area. Arthur and Agnes now make their home in Tra ditions of West Union.
