Fort Lauderdale to host 2013 National Drowning Prevention Symposium The next National Drowning Pre- vention Symposium is scheduled for March 13-15, 2013 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The theme is "Reaching Out," and the conference will bring together drowning prevention advocates and water safety experts from across the country. The annual symposium, sponsored by the National Drowning Prevention Alliance, attracts aquatic experts, par- ents, swim instructors, professors, res- cuers and researchers who exchange best practices, network and participate in hands-on activities. "The symposium empowers atten- dees to create effective drowning pre- vention programs in their communities," said Kim Burgess, ex- ecutive director, National Drowning Prevention Alliance.
