MARTIN ENGINEERING ENERGY FROM CONVEYORS POWERS ELECTRONICS Martin Engineering's Martin Roll-Gen System uses kinetic energy from a moving conveyor belt to generate enough power to run a variety of electronic systems. The company says it creates a self-contained mini power station to run monitoring and safety systems. The Roll-Gen System can be retrofitted on existing idler support structures, so no special stock of conveyor rollers is required. As conveyors move into the next generation of 'smart systems' that are predicted to be more sustainable and autonomous, the manufacturer says this device is a first step toward eliminating power production obstacles. Martin Engineering | www.martin-eng.com Mobile Equipment FLEXCO MODULAR IMPACT BEDS PROTECT LOAD ZONE Flexco says its Modular Impact Beds are engineered with maximum capacity in mind and designed with universal components that offer effective and affordable load-zone protection. They feature a 2-foot sectional design, which allows the users to fit the layout to their load zones, depend- ing on application-specific performance requirements. The beds can be paired side-by-side with each other to match specific load-zone lengths and requirements. They also feature slide-out service in three pieces for service to each section right at the conveyor, as well as long-lasting, 1-inch UHMW bars designed for use on reversing belts. Universal components and field-adjustable trough angles are said to reduce lead time and make the beds easier to service. The dozer has a new transmission with a lock-up clutch torque converter and an enhanced auto-shift sys- tem that is said to increase fuel efficiency by up to 15 percent. The cab has been up- graded to give operators more legroom, a new instrument display, and an improved HVAC system. The standard Connect Grade technology — including Cat Grade Control Slope Assist, Cat Stable Blade, and Cat Slope Indicate — helps operators handle the machine's blade in order to increase productivity. The Grade Control Slope Assist alone can help get the job done 39 percent faster with 68 percent better surface quality and 82 percent less operator effort. The redesign includes an Advanced Cushion Hitch that uses new software to dampen end-of-stroke movement of the load cylinder for a smoother ride, hydraulic-system refinement that simplifies the bowl quick-drop function, and draft-arm-overflow guards that divert material away from the sides of the bowl. Plus, a new Auto-Stall system quickly brings the transmission to operating temperature for faster transitions from torque-converter drive. The open-bowl 631K offers a payload capacity of 34 cubic yards. Standard fea- tures include: Engine over-speed protection, tire spin reduction, differential-lock-engagement protection, high-pressure steering, machine- speed limiter, ground-speed control, sequence assist, load assist, payload estimator, and Cat grade control.
