32 AGGREGATES MANAGER / December 2016 ROLLOUTS JOHN DEERE HYBRID WHEEL LOADER OFFERS EFFICIENCY, PRODUCTIVITY John Deere's 944K hybrid wheel loader is said to bolster the bottom line by offering maximized productivity and efficiency through its hybrid-electric drive system. Coupled with a 536-horsepower Tier 4 Interim engine, the 10-cubic- yard loader is said to offer fuel savings over 9-cubic-yard loaders with con- ventional drivetrains. Its hybrid-electric drive recaptures energy while slowing the loader when the operator lets off the accelerator, lessening the load on the engine and reducing fuel consumption. Four modular, independent wheel drives with electronic traction control allow it to thrive in rugged conditions. The buck- et width of 12 feet and breakout force of 103,388 pounds enable quick work around hoppers and stockpiles. John Deere | www.johndeere.com KOMATSU AMERICA CORP. SEMI-AUTOMATIC EXCAVATOR FEATURES 3D DISPLAY Komatsu says its PC360LCi-11 is the first 3D semi-automatic ex- cavator available in the 36-ton class. Intelligent Machine Control features a unique sensor package, including stroke-sensing hydraulic cylinders, an IMU sensor, and GNSS antennas. The machine uses 3D design data loaded into its monitor to accurately display machine position relative to target grade. When the bucket reaches the target surface, automation kicks in to limit over excavation. Other features include auto grade assist, auto stop control, minimum distance con- trol, facing angle compass, 3D display, and a control box. The exca- vator is powered by a 257-horsepower, Tier 4 Final, SAA6D114E-6 engine and is said to offer up to a 13-percent increase in productiv- ity due to increased hydraulic flow in Power Mode. Komatsu | www.komatsuna.com KOMATSU AMERICA CORP. RADIO-CONTROLLED DOZER Komatsu's D155AXi-8 Radio Control dozer is its first radio- controlled machine with intelligent Machine Control technol- ogy. Suited to applications where an operator may want to be removed from the cab, the 'intelligence' features allow the machine to maintain high levels of efficiency and productiv- ity in operations ranging from heavy dozing to fine grading. It is powered by a 354-horsepower Komatsu SAA6D140E-7, Tier 4 Final engine. An automatic gearshift transmission and lock-up torque converter select the optimal gear range for site conditions and load, eliminating horsepower loss and cutting fuel consumption by up to 10 percent. A patented Sigmadozer blade, designed to dig and roll up more soil at the blade's cen- ter, is said to hold more material, reduce digging resistance, and doze up to 15 percent more soil while using less power than a typical semi-U blade. Komatsu America Corp. | www.komatsuamerica.com LIEBHERR LOADER FEATURES POWER-SPLIT DRIVELINE Liebherr XPower wheel loaders feature power-split driveline as standard. The manu- facturer says this ensures power and efficiency as the transmission performs the same function as the traditional power-split transmission, but with a greater level of efficiency. It combines a hydrostatic drive — which is said to be the most efficient drive in short loading cycles — and the mechanical drive for long distances and driv- ing up gradients. The result is a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 30 percent. In addition, strengthened Z lift arms provide up to 20 percent more breakout force, and the optimized bucket is said to offer improved penetration action. Liebherr | www.liebherr.com
