FROM THE DESK OF SCOTT New Beginnings for Truckstop.com and Our Clients L ooking at the beginning of a new year as a new beginning isn't completely unusual. Aer all, with the Gregorian calendar, January 1 is the first day of a new year. e first day of a 365-day journey (except, of course, for Leap Year) around the sun. It is the time when almost everyone thinks of new opportunities. We'll call them resolutions. For some, it is time to vow to lose weight. For others, they try to be a better person in general. ere are literally thousands of different opportunities for new beginnings. We hear expressions like, "Today is the first day of the rest of your life." at is a new beginning. Every day is a new beginning. A new beginning is an opportunity to start something new. For the majority of us, it is the chance to start something on a positive note, improve ourselves or better the world around us. A new beginning is in the works for the United States as we inaugurate a new president. Perhaps this was the person you chose. Perhaps it wasn't. Nonetheless, it is a new beginning. In the transportation industry, we have a lot of new beginnings as well. Of course the biggest new beginning comes at the end of the year in 2017 and that deals with the ELD mandate. Aer a two-year grace period, most truck drivers will be required to have electronic logging devices in their trucks. We have a new beginning for this magazine. If you notice, the size of the magazine is a little wider than it has been in the past. Aer looking at changes we could make with the magazine, increasing the width of the magazine seemed like a good choice. ere will be other changes coming to the magazine throughout 2017, including a new name for the magazine. For years, IT Magazine stood for Internet Truckstop Magazine. However, when the company rebranded in 2015, it became Truckstop.com and not Internet Truckstop. What that new name will be has yet to be determined, but it is a new beginning. roughout Truckstop.com there are many new beginnings, too. We have worked hard in 2016 to bring new products to our customers that we feel will enhance their ability to make more profit in their business. We released Truckstop Pro, which offers enhanced opportunities on our load board and tools. LoadPay was released in 2016, giving carriers the ability to take control over their payments and cash flow and giving brokers the ability to generate more revenue, increase capacity and streamline their back-office work. Truckstop.com also began offering Load Tracking. is product is integrated directly into the Truckstop.com freight-matching marketplace and provides a real-time view into freight shipments. Shippers and brokers can receive updates on load status, location and completed check-calls on all loads without interrupting the driver. It provides better service and becomes an important negotiation tool. As well, those who are Truckstop.com Pro members can also receive 100 free tracks with the service. ere are other great products, like CargoShield and Rate Analysis that were released in 2016, too. All of these products are a form of a new beginning, not only for Truckstop.com, but also for our clients. New beginnings that are an opportunity for better, stronger business.
