OB COURSES SOME OF AREA'S BEST Two of the most popular courses around the region are those managed by OB Sports Golf Management: Angel Park and Legacy. Zagat Survey gave Cascata this honour just four years ago. Quite an award, but then again Cascata is quite a property. In a city famous for its high rise hotels and casinos, Cascata is the tranquil respite for vacationers to the uphill first hole. Dramatic vistas and challenging tee shots begin with the downhill par 5 third hole, and at Cascata no two holes are alike with each memorable in their own right. Especially noteworthy is the downhill par 3 seventh hole shot hole. 64 is the course record held by PGA Tour professional Craig Barlow. Cascata has five separate creeks and waterfalls, four ponds, and bighorn sheep are among the desert wildlife that pervades the property. From impeccable course conditions, superb customer service, and a tour caliber forecaddie, Cascata is the ultimate natural golf experience. When Cascata opened in 2000, it was coined "Golf's hidden treasure" by Sports Illustrated and the "eighth wonder of the golf world" by Jones, and it is a perpetual nationally ranked golf property by Golf Digest, Golfweek, and Golf Magazine. Las Vegas and avid golfers alike. Set 3,200 ft. above the desert basin, Cascata is located only 30 minutes from downtown Las Vegas, but truly seems a world away. The 37,000 sq. ft. Tuscan styled clubhouse greets those lucky enough to enter the gates with a full service restaurant serving American delectables, a golf shop carrying the latest in equipment and apparel, and award-winning locker rooms with flat screen televisions and full shower amenities. And yes, there is a bubbling brook that goes right through the clubhouse atrium originating from a 300-ft. waterfall thundering down the back of the practice range and meandering throughout the practice facilities. The lushness of the 7,100 yard Rees Jones design is apparent immediately with the tumbling waterfall guarding the left side of 84 with waterfall dropping in towards the green's left, the long dogleg right 14th with creek and pond coming into play, and the signature hole 18th. The longer hitter can take this double dogleg par 5 over the hill to the left, while the rest are advised to choose the fairway on the right and play it as a three Over the years, Cascata has been the host site for competitive professional and celebrity tournaments alike. Most notably, in 2004 for the Michael Douglas & Friends presented by Lexus, and from 2006-2008 hosting Tiger Woods' Tiger Jam benefiting Woods' foundation. Green fees range from $250-$375 depending on the season and day of play. More information on Cascata can be found by visiting www.golfcascata.com or calling (702) 294-2005. Angel Park Golf Club is a 36-hole facility also located in the Summerlin area. At almost 3000 feet in elevation, Angel Park offers spectacular views of Red Rock Canyon and the Las Vegas Valley. Its Mountain Course and Palm Course were both designed by Arnold Palmer. It also has a 12-hole Cloud Nine Short Course, the World's Original natural grass putting course and an expansive practice tee – all of which are lighted for evening enjoyment. This is one of the most forward thinking courses around. Top end rentals are only $35 per set and their early morning "Express Lane" tee times each Saturday are for golfers committed to finish 18-holes in 3:45 or less. Angel Park has been honored as "Best Golf Course" in Las Vegas by the Las Vegas Review Journal, almost every year since 2000. For information visit www.angelpark.com or call (702) 254-4653. The Legacy Golf Club, a true test of golf at 7,233 yards from the back tees, is conveniently located just 10 minutes from McCarran International Airport. Designed by Arthur Hills, it features contouring and sloping fairways reminiscent of classic Scottish links and is an annual host to the US Open Qualifying and the American Junior Golf Association. The 10th hole here may be the most recognizable in Las Vegas with tee boxes in the shape of a spade, club, diamond and heart. The rest of the course is memorable as well, especially the "Devil's triangle," holes 11, 12 and 13 that are crisscrossed with desert canyons and lava outcroppings. For tee times or information, call (702) 897-2187 or visit www.thelegacygc.com. Continued On Next Page 2012 NEVADA UPDATE ALL IMAGES COURTESY FACILITY EXCEPT WHERE NOTED IMAGE COURTESY FACILITY
